A Simple Solution to your Coronavirus Boredom…Start practicing again!

The first of the year I started a long series of exercises to get back in shape after many years of health issues. It was very successful and now we seem to be in a similar situation although this time the virus is the reason. I had to cancel several rehearsals and performances because of the quarantine and this lack of performing has resulted in a lack of practicing. If this is your situation, let me suggest that we begin the 30 day practice routine I posted at the beginning of the year.

We all need something to look forward to each day and recognizing improvement in our playing would be a great motivator.

To this end, I will repost my past articles every other day to give us all something to do to get our hopes up as well as establishing our regular practicing habits again. If you think you don’t have time to join us…….get real! What else do you have to do all day? Set aside a few minutes to follow the lesson plan and be sure to leave comments or questions as you progress for a conversation between fellow trumpet players would be very helpful under these conditions. Dialog between fellow trumpet players is very helpful to improve our attitudes. Even if you disagree with what I have posted, please feel free to voice your opinion for no one has all the answers.

In order to participate in this exercise, you will need the following materials, so send in your orders today so that we can all start together next week.

First Book of Practical Studies for Cornet and Trumpet

Second Book of Practical Studies for Cornet and Trumpet

27 Groups of Exercises by Earl Irons
