Please Welcome Our Friends In The Trumpet Ensemble From The Villages in Florida !

As we continue to feature trumpet ensembles around the country, we would like to introduce you to an active ensemble at The Villages in  Florida.

We would like to thank our good friend and exceptional trumpet player Mr. Corky Maschinot for the following information about his friends and  the Villages Trumpet Ensemble.

“The Villages, Florida is a 55+ community about 60 miles north of Orlando. Among the many activities for residents is an organization called Bands of The Villages, an umbrella group with a number of bands, including The Villages Trumpet Ensemble. The Trumpet Ensemble was organized by our founder and director Gordon Purslow in 2008.Gordon is a former professional trumpet player, with many years of experience in various roles. He is also an experienced music educator.

When first organized, the group had 9 members; we currently have 14 members.

The group rehearses weekly at a Villages recreation center. Our library contains over 100 numbers, in various styles; our most recent additions, and some of our favorites, are from the Branson Trumpet Ensemble Collection, with arrangements, and original compositions, by Professor Bruce Chidester. An original by Bruce, “The Villages Rag,” was written just for us! Bruce and his wife Karen even visited us a couple of years ago, attending a rehearsal, and joining our members and their spouses for dinner at a local restaurant!

Through the years our group has performed many times for residents- at Villages recreation centers, assisted living facilities, facility opening ceremonies, and “lobby concerts” in The Savannah Theater prior to the main performances.

If (like us) you love playing trumpet, and long for Florida sunshine, move to The Villages and join THE VILLAGES TRUMPET ENSEMBLE”!
