Our first post went online November 24, 2010, and has added Trumpet related information continuously from that date until now. I have been very pleased with the content as well as the periodic comments our readers have sent in. It was my original intent to share some of my limited experiences with our readers, especially the younger players with hopes to make playing the Trumpet easier as well as more enjoyable.
I have made this decision after considering several changes in my life. The most important reason to discontinue our post is for the fact that my wife, Karen has been fighting cancer for the past two and one half years, and I need to spend more time with her at this point in our lives.
Another reason for this decision is the fact that with the new interest in Artificial Intelligence, I realized that we are now on a very slippery slope regarding our private as well as national security. We have lost our control of electronic information sharing and for that reason I am going dark on the internet. No more are we able to search for information without being influenced to view what others want to impose on us. We have become used to having others show us and telling us what we should see, hear or read. This condition is clearly notated Biblically, and I have decided to get back to basics by replacing my Email communications with live voice communication on my phone.
We are in a new age now where what you see, may not be real. We have convincing videos of well-known figures speaking words placed there through the technology of AI that is more real than real. Check out this video of my wife and me sharing some dance steps last month. How can we tell fact from fiction?
Another reason for my decision to leave the Web is that my Email has now been hacked twice in the past two years, causing my friends to be questioning my sanity. I don’t appreciate that at all.
We have had a great run for all these years, and I would like to thank all who have read our posts, and it is my wish that in some way we have been able to help in the area of Trumpet performance.
To sum up our history online, I have listed a few interesting facts-
The Trumpet Blog posted 1,066 articles and logged in over 5,198,000 views. Two of these posts garnered 91,000 views.
The Trumpet Blog.com was selected the “Best Trumpet Blog on the Internet” for the past 8 consecutive years.
As time moves on, so do our interests and responsibilities. And for those as well as other changes in our lives progress, changes in our direction also changes.
I would like to give a special thank you to our readers and remember one thing- “You wouldn’t get there without practicing”!
