10 Blogs That Every Trumpet Player Should Read

This is a reprint of the original post by Jeremy Smith on September 14, 2016 and is posted with his consent.

“When I first started this blog 2 years ago, one post that I wrote was 10 Blogs That Every Trombone Player Should Read. It had great success then and is still considered one of my top read posts.

Today, I am continuing that series by highlighting 10 blogs by trumpet players that I believe to be of great help to the industry.

Below you will find a list of 10 professional trumpet players who have written quite a bit on anything (and everything) related to the trumpet.

There are many blogs out there regarding the trumpet; however, these ten write frequently on their sites. Some of the websites are actual blogs while others contain a blog that is fairly active”.

1) Joey Tartell, Associate Professor of Trumpet, Indiana University

2) Chris Coletti, Canadian Brass

3) Phil Collins, former Principal Trumpet, Cincinnati Symphony and Pops

4) Wynton Marsalis, International Jazz Soloist

5) Terrance Blanchard, International Jazz Soloist

6) Chris Carillo, Trumpet Professor, James Madison University

7) The Trumpet Blog

8) Stanley Curtis, Trumpet, U.S. Navy Band

9) James Ackley, Trumpet Professor, University of South Carolina

10 Brian McWhorter, Trumpet Professor, University of Oregon”

It’s good to see your blog on the list – I find it an interesting read and full of helpful tips. I’m a bit disappointed that only male trumpeters feature on the list though…

Thank you for your comments and I didn’t realize the male dominance in the list. Thanks for pointing it out.
